Payment
Policy
Please read the following very carefully, especially the items in bold
or red!
There
are two ways to pay for lessons:
1. Lesson to Lesson: Lessons are $60.00 per hour, one hour minimum, and are planned on
a “lesson to lesson” basis. Weekly
time slots may NOT be reserved.
2. Budget Plan: The Budget Plan is designed for the student who wants to reserve
a weekly time slot. Essentially, the
student pays a highly discounted set fee per month. The trade-off is that there are NO
MAKE UP LESSONS for student absences or for 10 pre-set days
off. Here are the stipulations for the
Budget Plan:
1. This Budget Plan is an ANNUAL / ONGOING
AGREEMENT and not a “per lesson” arrangement.
2. The lessons are for the student(s) arranged
for only and may not be sold or traded.
3. The term of the agreement is essentially ONE
YEAR, starting on the first lesson.
Attending a lesson after the one-year term renews the agreement for an
additional year.
4. The lessons are scheduled for a set day and
time and may not be changed or rescheduled without mutual consent.
5. The location for the lessons is
pre-determined and may not be moved without mutual consent of teacher and
parent / paying student.
6. Payment Options: The annual tuition is set at a
predetermined amount with two payment options (tuition subject to change with
consent of both parties):
A. One lump sum for the
entire year paid in advance.
B. * 12 monthly installments
(of 1/12 the annual tuition), payable at the beginning of each month prior to
beginning the first lesson.
* Please understand that each monthly installment is
1/12 of the annual tuition and has nothing to do
with the number of lessons the student has attended in any particular month. Please understand that personal days,
vacation days etc. may cause a student to miss several or all of the
lessons in a particular month(s) and that the payments are due regardless.
7. A minimum of forty-two (42) lessons are available
during the term; 52 (weeks in a year) minus the following:
7A. Two
lessons off for Christmas, arranged by teacher
7B. One
lesson off for Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving week
7C. One
lesson off for 4th of July, arranged by teacher
7D. One lesson
off for Spring Break, arranged by teacher
7E. Two
lessons off for “summer break” the last week of July / 1st week of
August
7F. Three
“personal days” off to be chosen by the teacher at any time for any
purpose. After the 3rd personal day,
lessons cancelled by the teacher will be made up.
8. Lessons cancelled by the student
do not affect the payments and will not be made up, rescheduled or replaced. However, as long as all dues are paid in
full, the above indicated music lesson time slot will be reserved exclusively
for the parent / student concerned for the duration of the term(s) regardless
of attendance by the student.
Please be aware that this Budget Plan is
considerably less expensive than the standard $60 per hour “per lesson”
rate if the student attends all available lessons and becomes more
expensive than $60 per hour only if the student misses 10 or more of the
42 available lessons during any given term. In either case, I agree to reserve the 42 available lesson times
indicated above and the parent (or paying student) agrees to pay tuition in
full for the duration of the term. Either
party may, of course, discontinue the Budget Plan at any time with the
understanding that only the standard rate of $60 per hour on a lesson to lesson
basis will be available from that time forward.

Here are some number examples: 42 (weeks/lessons in a year) * $60.00 (cost of a one hour lesson) = $2520.00
(Annual cost of 42 “lesson to lesson” classes) 12 (months in a year) * $150.00 (cost per month for one hour lessons on the Budget Plan) = $1800.00 (Annual cost of 42 lessons on the
Budget Plan) $2520.00 (One year of one hour “lesson to lesson”) - $1800.00 (One year of one hour Budget Plan) $720.00 (Amount you save with no student
absences on the Budget Plan) $720.00 (Amount you save) / $60.00 (Cost per lesson) = 12 (Number of free lessons on the Budget Plan with no
student absences – OR – Number of lessons you’d have to miss to break even
with “lesson to lesson” payments).
The difference being that with the Budget Plan, your time slot is
RESERVED FOR YOU REGARDLESS OF NUMBER OF ABSENCES. |
