Major Scale Charts:
Use the "X" column to check off the scales as you learn them. The sharp keys are listed in the order of appearance of sharps, starting with C major, which actually has zero sharps. The flat keys are listed in the order of appearance of flats, also starting with C major which has, of course, zero flats. Both G# and Fb (the last scales in the two charts) are present only for the sake of theory. G#, as far as learning the scale goes, is the same as ("enharmonic equivalent" of) Ab. In the same way, Fb is the same scale as E. That's why they are already checked off. As far as enharmonic equivalents go, B is also the same as Cb, F# the same as Gb and C# the same as Db. Hence, once you learn the Group II scales in one chart, you may check off the Group II scales in the other chart. See the bottom of the page for links to fingering charts!
