Lonely
John Arnn, who teaches at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, is one of the most amazing theorists I've ever worked with. He would write on a sheet of paper what feeling an instrumental piano piece of his represented, not letting us see it. Then he'd play it for us. Afterwards, we would describe what the piece made us feel. It always matched exactly what was on the paper, without exception. Even very detailed emotions like "happy, but with something a little unsettling just beneath the surface." Most amazing. "Lonely" was a class assignment of trying this for ourselves.
